Knowing if a woman is pregnant has always been important. God provided women with a free, easy to use pregnancy test long before such tests were available commercially. God designed the lunar cycle to be roughly twenty-nine days in length. This is the amount of time from new moon to new moon or from full moon to full moon and is very close to the average woman's 28 day menstrual cycle. God’s pregnancy test is simple and easy to use. If a woman started her period last month with a full moon and the next full moon comes without her having a period, she knew immediately that she might pregnant. It could not be simpler. Certainly it is not 100 percent accurate, for the menstrual cycle can vary, but it provided women with an early indication of a possible pregnancy. Surprisingly in today’s “information age” few are aware of this original pregnancy test for a woman.

Importance of being fruitful
Reproduction has long been important to God. Any species that does not reproduce becomes extinct. According to Genesis, there were two times when the earth was nearly devoid of human life. One was during Creation week after the creation of Adam and Eve and the other was after the global flood. Both times God commanded mankind to be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. (Gen 1:28, Gen 9:1). On several occasions God told the nation of Israel and others to “be fruitful.” (Gen 26:22, Gen 35:11, Gen 41:52, Jer 23:3 and other places) The greatest news of all time was the announcement to Mary that she was with child supernaturally and would bare a son…Jesus the Savior (Matt 1:18-23). Without a doubt, one of the worse tragedies in all of history is occurring today with the senseless murder of millions of unborn babies worldwide by abortion under the pretext of choice or convenience. One in three women have had an abortion and when they realize it was not a choice as they were misinformed, but a child many become guilt ridden for the rest of their life. Over 46 million babies are murdered each year dwarfing Hitler’s killing of 20 million Jews and others he deemed “unfit.”
It seems few people today are aware that long before the corner drug store had inexpensive pregnancy test kits available, God provided women with an easy-to-use absolutely free test so she could know if she was with child. I shared this with my nursing students and was surprised that not a single female student was aware of this simple indication of pregnancy. As a young man, when I first learned about a woman’s reproduction cycle, I instantly put it together with my knowledge of the lunar cycle and was in awe of the Creator for making such important information readily available to all women long before calenders and modern pregancy tests were available.
In simpler times before electric lights, television, cell phones and the Internet, people were more closely tied to natural light and the phases of the moon than they are today. To some extent farmers, fishermen, hunters and a few others remain aware of the phase of the moon, but to most people it is unimportant. God's Word clearly states: And God said, Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years (Gen 1:14, NIV). Early civilizations were aware of many such celestial events that marked the spring and fall equinox and the longest and shortest days and other important events. Long before the advent of months, years, and even before calendars were thought of, a woman could simply go outside at night, look at the moon and determine if she might be pregnant.
How could a woman do this? It is really quite simple. God designed the lunar cycle to be roughly twenty-nine days in length. This is the period from new moon to new moon or from full moon to full moon and is amazingly close to the average woman's 28 day menstrual cycle. Here is how it works. If a woman started her period last month with a full moon and the next full moon came without her having a period she knew immediately that she might pregnant. Or if her last period occurred with a cresent moon and the next cresent moon came without her having her period she would know she might be with child. It could not be simpler. Certainly this is not 100 percent accurate, because menstrual cycles can vary, but it still provided women with an early indication of possible pregnancy. Again, I find it odd that so few people today are aware of this simple and free pregnancy test that God gave women from the beginning.
This raises a difficult problem for evolutionists that requires a thoughtful response. Why would the lunar cycle agree so closely with a woman's menstrual cycle? Did people evolve so the phase of the moon could be used as a pregnancy test? Not likely! Or did the two events just happen to coincide? Again most unlikely; figure the odds! It is far more logical to accept that the all knowing God who hung the moon and stars in place and created man in His image planned the cycle of the moon so it could be used as a “sign” a woman was with child. Many cultures think of the moon as being for lovers. So did our Creator. The phase of moon has been used since the beginning of Creation to tell a woman if she was going to have a baby. The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands (Ps 19:1). Sadly, such truths can no longer be taught in our public schools or universities. Our teachers are strictly forbidden to mention any evidence from science that points to Intelligent Design, Creation or to God. Instead, they are required to teach materialistic evolution and that man is nothing more than “matter in motion.” Mention of anything Christian or dealing with God has been replaced by teaching the Five Pillars of Islam. This must change. Teachers, like scientists must be allowed to follow the evidence, no matter where it leads and a great deal of scientific evidence leads directly to the God of Creation.
